FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Answers to the questions that come up most before booking — on fees, confidentiality, approach, and what to expect.
How much does a session cost?
Individual Counselling is $160 AUD for a 60-minute session, and Couple’s Counselling is $260 AUD for a 90-minute session. A free 15-minute introductory chat is also available if you’d like to check the fit before booking a full session. To secure your booking, all clients are asked to provide valid card details on file — a $60 non-refundable deposit applies to first-time face-to-face clients, deducted from your first session fee. If your sessions are being funded by a third party, please get in touch before booking so payment arrangements can be confirmed in advance.
What payment methods do you offer?
All clients are asked to provide card details on file to secure a booking. For online sessions, half of the session fee is due via the card on file 24 hours prior to your appointment, with the remaining balance payable via bank transfer, cash (in-person sessions only), or card payment processed securely through Halaxy. If you’d prefer not to provide card details, get in touch and we can arrange an invoice for bank transfer instead. A $50 late payment fee applies if payment isn’t received within 14 days of your appointment, with a further $50 added for each additional week it remains outstanding.
What is the cancellation policy?
Your appointment time is reserved just for you, so at least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice incur a $60 fee, and same-day cancellations or missed appointments are charged the full session fee. To cancel or reschedule, please email hello@innribloma.com.
Can I receive a Medicare rebate?
Not currently. Professional counsellors aren’t yet covered under Medicare’s Better Access scheme in Australia, something the profession continues to advocate for. No referral is needed either way — you’re welcome to book directly.
Can I claim through private health insurance?
Rebates aren’t currently available through private health insurance for sessions with Innri Blóma.
Who provides the counselling at Innri Blóma?
All counselling and consulting at Innri Blóma is provided directly by Dr Amar Freya.
Is this a confidential service?
Confidentiality is taken seriously, and practice is grounded in the ACA and PACFA Code of Ethics. Confidentiality would only be broken if you or someone else were at risk of harm, or where required by law, and wherever possible, this would be discussed with you first.
How long does therapy take?
This varies a lot from person to person and their needs. Some find a session or two gives them what they need, while others benefit from ongoing support over weeks, months, or years. Couples counselling often involves working through more layered relationship dynamics, so a run of around ten sessions (weekly or fortnightly) is a common starting guide, reviewed and adjusted as you go based on the couple’s needs.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chance to get a feel for working together. Expect to be listened to closely, with space to share as much or as little as feels comfortable — the pace is yours. Questions are asked to build a fuller picture of your situation and start shaping what you want out of the work together. For couples, this includes explaining the overall process and beginning to map out a plan specific to your relationship.
What is your approach to counselling?
Sessions draw on Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), the Gottman Method, and Schema Therapy, chosen and blended based on what fits your specific situation. Additional training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is currently underway, to be added to the practice once complete.
